Wendy Clark - Couture Cake Designer

With a background in Graphic Design I have always enjoyed creating things, but there came a point where I felt this need to be more creative and without the computers and technology. I was looking for a way to get back to the basics. I wanted to do something I loved. But what was that? I loved baking I knew that. I mean after all I was always the one showing up to the party with the home baked goods. With these thoughts I started to do some research. I was on the hunt for a new found passion, one that would allow me to create interesting things that I could eat. It seemed crazy to me at first, I wasn't sure if such a thing existed but then I found Bonnie Gordon from the Bonnie Gordon School of Cake Design. Which has since become the Bonnie Gordon College of Confectionary Arts.

I was very fortunate to be able to study with Bonnie Gordon herself and other top industry professionals along the way. The knowledge and skills I developed over the years have been vital to the way I see cake design today. It is not "just a cake". Designer cakes are creative masterpieces, a special piece of edible art designed just for that special person or that special event. Each design is a well thought out plan. A plan that is built with passion and care, a plan that comes to life using only the finest quality ingredients.

After numerous requests I decided to launch my home based business Sugar Coat It in 2008. Since then my cake designs have been seen in numerous media outlets such as Wedding Bells Magazine, Style Me Pretty, The Wedding Co. Blog, The Toronto Star, Wedding Essentials Magazine and Episode 1004 – BELLE OF THE BALL on the series Cake Walk featured on the Slice Network.
